GLOWING PATH
Glowing Path is a large-scale, site-specific installation that transforms the landscape into a luminous drawing across the earth. Constructed from wood panels within a steel frame, the pathway is coated with high-performance glow-in-the-dark pigment and sealed with varnish, absorbing daylight and emitting a gentle glow after dark.
The Marfa installation spans approximately 420 feet, assembled from 156 panels - each 4 by 8 feet or larger - weaving across a 25-acre canvas of land. The gradually rising, zigzagging form stitches the terrain, creating a continuous line that is both structural and atmospheric.
By using photoluminescent pigments instead of LED lighting, the piece preserves Marfa's famously dark skies, becoming luminous without adding light pollution, and quietly responding to the rhythm of the natural environment.
